Final Fantasy VII Date
Obviously today’s biggest announcement is… well, today. Specifically, Japan has recognized this year’s anniversary as Final Fantasy VII’s anniversary.
“I remember being amazed by the incredible speed at which video game technology is changing, but also dreaming big for the future,” Game Director Yoshinori Kitasi wrote in a statement. . “With the establishment of this official birthday, I will always remember these things and hold them in my heart.”
But you can survive calling unemployment to celebrate this most sacred ceremony between you and your employers.
Cloud and Sephiroth playlist
Moving on, if you’re a fan of curated playlists for your favorite anime characters, Square Enix brings you their own Spotify playlist for Cloud and Sephiroth. Before you get too excited, the songs on these playlists won’t have a Pinterest-esque funky board song to match their style. They usually have their different themes from the game’s soundtrack. Either way, Cloud and Sephiroth’s playlist provides a solid base from which you can add bops to create your own hairy mixtape.
Crossover Power Wash Simulator
The most shocking announcement that comes out of Square E’s shotgun spread approach to celebrate the birthday of his poster is the information about the upcoming crossover between Final Fantasy VII and Power Wash Simulator. This partnership, called the Midgar Special Pack, will allow players to clear evil from the realm in Final Fantasy VII. FFVII won’t be the only game Square Enix will feature in the Power of Bath expansion, however. FuturLab devs have released a Tomb Raider pack where players are tasked with clearing Croft Manor until it’s shiny and new.
Lego Hand Link
A good Square E campaign has an audience participation component. FFVII will have a Lego tie-in, and fans can vote for the iconic undead and wounded blocks. The four options people can choose from are Cloud and Tifa sitting on a water tower in Nibelheim, Aerith’s house, a church in the Sector 5 slums, and Cloud’s iconic Honey Bee dance. Fans can vote for their preferred order of Legos here. Do the right thing and vote for Honey Bee Inn. Aerith will thank you.
